what a week it's been
since we last met here at

My Stereotactic Breast Biopsy

it is Monday afternoon
and i am now home
after my procedure

Two Mammograms In One Week Can't Be Good

i turned 40 near the end of last year
and like most American women i had
schedule first mammogram
somewhere on my to-do list

it's hotter than
ten thousand bad guys today

in a moment
i'll go out and water my flowers
to help them get through this heat wave

and later
i'll go water myself at the pool
to help me get through this heat wave

i'm super excited
because this weekend
our friends our gettin' hitched
and i'm helping with the decorating
and reception plans

i'm sworn to secrecy
(not really)
but i can show you
a little inspiration photo
to give you an idea of what we're planning

can't wait

but i'm sure

i'll just bet

at the 71st week of

Taking Father's Day Photos

in our house
Mother's Day and Father's Day
are usually filled with homemade gifts and cards
breakfast in bed
and leisurely hours
spent together as a family

in years past
the kids and i
have made lots of fun keepsakes
for the dad in our house

and each year
it gets a bit harder
to find that one perfect gift idea

so this year
instead of being inventive
i decided to keep it simple
by taking some photos of the kids
to frame for dad's office

so i chose some outfits

for my kidlets

that they actually agreed to wear

without too much fussing

and went outside

to take about

6 thousand shots

give or take

and even managed

to enjoy it

though

you're not allowed to tell anyone

and can i just say

anyone who tells you

that it's a piece of cake

getting 4 siblings to stand next to each other

and s m i l e all at the same time

is totally yanking your chain

real smiles

(not those cheesy fakes)

all at the same time

are not so easily come by

but i do think

we got there in the end

and wound up

with the perfect Father's Day gift

after all

is the sun shining
in your neck of the woods today?

because it's sure casting shadows in mine

'round here
we've been swimming
socializing at grad parties
planning for weddings and vacations
wrapping up a baseball season

it feels like
there's always something going on
but i'd call it

relaxed busyness

if you know what i mean

next week
my kids go off to day camp
and i have some little jobs planned
to do around the house in their absence

we've also been
working on our Father's Day gifts
which i'll tell you about soon
