Thankful

like many of you
i have been reading


a few weeks ago
i began keeping my own
gratitude journal

in it so far
are 87 things
ranging from great to seemingly

insignificant

but today
i filled in number 88

my dad
age 82
healed from pneumonia
after weeks of hospitalization
and being house-bound

my pastor dad
who has spent 60 years
praying for
and visiting the infirm and sick

being held up by so many others

brought chicken soup
and rice pudding by faithful friends

my dad
missing 3 whole weeks of worship services

unheard of
i tell you

so this heart is

thankful

and it is that heart that i bring
to church today
as a holy act of worship
