this little lamp of mine

one upon a time
there was a tag sale lamp
dark and dingy

left on a dusty shelf
forgotten and alone

but one day
a thrifted grey lampshade
made it's way home

and thought to itself

why if only that old lamp
could be white and new
we might be the perfect couple

ever the matchmaker
the savvy owner agreed
and whisking out her handy can of spray paint
completed the transformation in a thrice

when the grey lampshade

met the newly whitened lamp

they realized

that destiny
(and a 99 cent can of white spray paint)
had brought them together

and they lived happily ever after

the end.

pretty produce storage

in my kitchen
i used to have a hanging basket
for storing fresh produce
like this

after a few good years
it finally broke
beyond all decent repair
and i went on the hunt for a new one

naively
as turned out
because no one seems to sell these anymore

thus
my wall stayed empty

and
my poor fruits and veggies
were scattered hither and yon
in lieu of anything better

but last week
my luck turned
when i spotted these three baskets
at goodwill

for $3 each

i brought them home
cleaned them

and lovingly persuaded the hubs
to hang them on the wall for me
with measuring tape and level
since

i don't do mathematical things like that

and now
my fruits and veggies
have their designated space
(flash)

(no flash)

and everyone's happy

wanna find
some similar baskets
for your own wall?

how about these

gallery wall

i am working on
the photo gallery wall
next to my staircase
today

which is no easy feat
since i hate measuring and planning
leveling and marking and all things

mathematical

and i keep second-guessing my eyeballs
opening superfluous holes in the plaster
and running back to pinterest
for more inspiration
