will be married
in a ceremony i haven't been invited to

and i can't wait

perhaps you think i'm a silly

it's okay
you're in good company

because my darling hubs
has to try
very hard
not to roll his big blue eyes

and here's a great tutorial
for making your own lovely soaps
from stephanie at henry happened

that soap almost looks good enough to eat
yum

jessajill showed off a cute idea
for making a decorative ball
out of crepe paper streamers

oxford impressions crafted these adorable onsies
for her friend's shop

and wouldn't those onsies look great
with a union jack stitched on the fronts?

it's royal wedding week!

i am
admitedly
a big ole
self-confessed

anglophile

and as such
i am in seventh heaven
this week

my dvr is set
to record every single royal-related show
that pops on channel bbca

and there are many

such as

charles and diana: a royal wedding

i vividly recall watching the original
thirty years ago

princess diana: her life in jewels

diana's dresses

from the frumpy

oh my
there were a few unfortunate choices early on

to the fabulous

modern monarch: here and there

william & harry

william & kate: modern monarchy

william & kate: a fairytale romance

and then
of course

the royal wedding itself
friday, april 29
starting at 3:00 a.m. eastern standard time

will you be watching?

fridays unfolded #15

i know
that this is a busy weekend for many

with worship services
easter baskets
family visits
stretched out tables
laden with good things to eat

but i want to encourage my fellow believers
to find some quiet moments on this friday
(even if you must lock yourself in the bathroom
to do it)

to thank the Father
for sending His only Son

to thank the Son
for willingly coming
for the sole purpose
of sacrificing Himself
for the sake of you and me

to let the very fact of that ancient terrible day
seep into your heart
wound you
break you

so that on easter morning
your praise
thankfulness
in Jesus' incredible defeat of death

will be fresh
brand new

will raise the roof

~

now
i haven't forgotten
that today is also a time
for us to share our creativity with one another

in some ways
these fridays just fly from one week to the next

where does the time go?

every week i am simply amazed
at your fresh ideas

like this play tent made by artfully @ atelier caroline

what fun to be had in that little house

or

this wonderful and heartfelt post
by becky at organizing made fun
about her precious son
and his story of autism

what an encouraging and joyful post

and
maybe it's because i'm back on my calorie counting
but these recipes are looking so
mouth-watering

just look at this apple tea ring made by
lisa at flour me with love

and this sausage escarole toss from not your ordinary agent

i shouldn't be writing this on an empty stomach

and don't you love this vintage inspired pendant lamp from three pixie lane?

she based it on a $148 basket light from anthro
but hers only cost$10
love it

finally
hill country homebody showed off her
dramatic backyard renovation
which went from

to

i love a good 'before and after' story

frugal finds

last saturday
i finally had some time to run errands
sprinting in and out of shops
dodging a fair amount of

i hafta say

juggling a flimsy umbrella
and diet coke in one hand
with copious shopping bags and car keys
in the other
whilst trying to open my car door wide enough
to quickly heave all my belongings into my vehicle

but not so wide that it dents the expensive ride
parked to my immediate left
kept me somewhat damp all day

but it was worth it

because i was able to get all the easter basket trinkets
and most of toot's birthday surprises
in one fell swoop

and of course
since i was in the general vicinity
i had to make a quick stop at the local sal val

which is where i spotted this gorgeous little
silver plated champagne bucket
waiting for me on a dusty shelf

for all of $5

i gave her a quick polish
and now she sits all shiny and bright
waiting for the next batch of flowers
or branches to hold

and

some of you may recall my sal val score a few months ago
when i snagged these frye boots for a mere $12

sadly
they were
two sizes
too small
and had to go the way of all things ebay

but
as fate would have it
i stumbled across these clearance boots
at target for

$12

simply serendipitous
i'd say

and finally

my frugalest find of all
an old galvanized bucket

found reposing
half buried in leaves and dirt
in some woods behind a local playground

at some point
i'll hammer out the dings

but for now
it's perfect for some cut forsythia

which
during these rain soaked days
is the only spot of sunny yellow to be found
anywhere in my neighborhood

what treasures have you gathered this week?
