a little sadness

i had a very different
and jollier
post planned for today

but last night
our little dog Sipsie
was out running loose

and after a couple hours of searching
i found her lying in the road
still
cold

i brought her home
and in the dark and fog and rain
buried her beneath a pine tree

and cried myself to sleep

it's kind of hard to believe
how much sadness i feel
over such a small creature

  3. I am so sorry, Allison! My boys and I were talking just yesterday about how our pets are members of our family. We love them dearly and losing one is losing a family member. I so hate to hear it.

  4. Alison I am so sorry. My dog had seizures on Thanskgiving and it was the scariest thing. I cried and cried and I did feel silly because it is a little dog, but they are a part of your family. We don't have any kids so our dogs are like our babies. I will pray for your comfort during this time.

  13. Allison, I am so very sorry for your loss. I have grieved over the loss of pets with just as much passion as I have over people. To the heart, pain is pain and sad is sad no matter what the cause. I pray that you find comfort in the presence of your family, friends, and the memories of Sipsie.

Ohh I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. We lost our beloved kitty a few years back. It is always hard. They are part of your family. Hopefully she didnt suffer to much. Keep her memory alive and grieve as much as you need. Our thoughts are with you.

  16. Allison,
the loss of a fmaily pet is never welcome but when it is a surprise, I think it is even worse. I hope you and your family keep her memory alive in your hearts and weather this storm that blew in unexpectedly. Many prayers coming your way.

  17. Oh Alison ... losing a pet is like losing a member of your family. You won't ever forget her and you will always miss her. I join you in your sadness. She was a delightful little pup (she brought joy to my children for sure). Praying that God will be your comfort as you mourn the loss of a very precious and special member of your family.

  19. Sending prayers.
    Your kids must be
    devastated; mine
    would be. Sipsie
    looked like such a
    sweetie and I know
    it must leave such a
    gap in your family.

Oh, Alison....my heart is just breaking for you. I was so sorry to hear about Sipsie. I know how much those little furries babies become a part of us, of our families, and love us so unconditionally. I lost my old Tessa last December, and more recently my little man-cat, Toby. I still find myself tearing up because I miss him so very much. I will keep you in my prayers, sweetie. Just know that heaven's got another little angel watching over you and will meet you at The Rainbow Bridge someday. ♥

    xoxo laurie

  28. Oh Alison!! I am so sorry I missed this post. Oh I feel your pain. I love my two doggies so very, very much I can't even imagine how hard this has been for you. I saw you have a new addition now. I know Hugo won't replace Sipsie, but I hope he'll help to ease the pain and bring a new joy into your life! Much Love.
