like most women
when it comes to my morning ablutions
i have a simple routine
which goes something like this
take a shower
towel off
rub stuff on my face
put on deodorant
brush teeth
moisturize
dress
all of this usually takes 20ish minutes
to accomplish every morning
if i can make it sans interruption
if
however
i am preoccupied
(by the never completed to-do list running through my mind like a 1980s social studies film strip)
or
interrupted
(by random small persons knocking on the bathroom door because apparently it's inconceivable to get along for 20 minutes 20 minutes without calling 'mom' 50 times at ever increasing decibels are you kidding me?)
i will invariably
and
unfailingly
forget to
deodorize my right armpit
it's always the right armpit
never the left
and strangely
this random event
seems to occur only on days
when i leave the house for long stretches at a time during which no opportunity to remedy problematic situation is readily available
i can't solve this mystery
but one day
i plan to donate my body to science
in the hopes that someone can identify
which particular neurons misfire
at the expense of anyone unfortunate enough
to approach me from the right
on harried days

Hahaha! I've forgotten before, but never just one side, or always the same side! Yes, there must be some neurons misfiring :D
ReplyDeletehahaha!! no kidding! these are the great mysteries in life!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA. I've never had this problem. sounds tooo funny though. I'd love for you to link this up to my new post series: yours would be "This is how I feel about...my right armpit" lol! I just did one on thrift stores.

Giggle...what a cute post Allison! You're adorable....and just brought a smile to my face....love the pic too. :P
ReplyDeleteit's reassuring to know that i do not suffer alone...;)
ReplyDeleteHow weird! Although it's kinda like my hubby, when washing, getting dressed or applying deodorant he always has to do the left arm first I shall ask if he ever forgets the right arm!
ReplyDeletethe title of this post was great! love the post, too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I think we were separated at birth! I do the same thing on the same side...totally not kidding at all! Wish I was. :-)
ReplyDeleteI always wonder if it is just a side affect from this stage in life or if there really is some deeper meaning to it all...I'll blame it on the kiddos as long as I possibly can!
Vanessa
P.S. Watch for an email coming from me! :-)
yes yes yes yes yes....
ReplyDeletesometimes I end up *deoderizing* both sides multiple times because I've forgotten I already have...
This is so funny - and puzzling! Made me smile! Must have something to do with being right brained or left brained, maybe!
ReplyDeleteI too, have done this. My solution? Keep a stick of deoderant in the car for such purposes. The only bad thing is deoderant + hot cars in the KS summers = a mess that totally defeats the purpose! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that is too funny!!! I usually leave the house without deodorant so you are one step ahead of me!! But that is too funny that it is the right armpit! Love the title. :)
ReplyDeleteNow I'm paranoid! Haha!
ReplyDeleteOhOhOh! I know the answer (I think). Want to know my "take"? You're right-handed. You grab with your right hand, deoderize the left armpit, get distracted, put the deoderant down and forget to pick it back up with your left hand. Those little travel size deoderants are perfect for leaving in the car (NOT in the summer, I have found...yech), or in a little makeup bag in your purse. Please don't think I'm that organized...I just figure everyone else is. :)
ReplyDeleteErrrr, I just re-read your post. I'm completely off here. So, are you left-handed? What a twit I am.
ReplyDeleteHa!!! Excellent post, my friend! You know what? I actually ran out of mine this very day.
ReplyDeleteSmell ya later,
Julie M.
i think we'd all be a dangerous (and half smelly) group if we all got together...i have actually tried keeping deodorant in my bag or car but it always seems to make a mess somehow...sigh
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I needed that today:)
ReplyDeleteHi Alison! I just wanted to stop by and say "thank you" for visiting my blog and becoming a follower. I was absolutely thrilled to read your comment!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed reading your review of Oscar fashion! I agree with all that you have to say! I've only seen The King's Speech, so I basically watched for the fashion! :)
Now I must go eat a potato chip. Sadly, I don't have a freshly cooked delicious ones like yours! :) I'd like to come back to join the link party on Friday!
Posted highlights from my "This is How I Feel About..." Link up party. Check it out!

*LOL* At least you get one done. I usually forget both.
ReplyDeleteLOL....too funny. LOL...I can relate! LOL...TWENTY MINUTES...it's a lifetime in 'littles' eyes...LOL.
ReplyDeletei know
ReplyDeleteright?
Ha! I can totally relate to this. It seems that in the summer (of course when it's blazing hot) I forget it all together! I had to start putting some in my purse so that I can quickly apply :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, I'm now following via Linky :)
