i am a right brained kind of girl
so organization is not really my thing
therefore
when i actually accomplish any task that involves
cleaning
sorting
sifting
straightening
i end up feeling very virtuous indeed
after we painted our hallway
a couple of weeks ago
i noticed a fly in the ointment
the linen closet
so embarrassing
are you seeing what i'm seeing?
blankets
pillows
towels
linens
all just crammed in behind closed doors
it was just one of those projects that i was happy to postpone
indefinitely
until i saw this old chest that we were throwing away
and it ocurred to me that i could use the four matching drawers
as organizers in the linen cupboard
i pulled them out
cleaned them up
painted the fronts with a couple coats of leftover white paint
made some labels with my printer and some craft paper
bagged up a ton of grotty, no-longer-used linens
and here is the result
can you hear my sigh of relief?
i love white towels
i keep a couple sets separate from the rest
to use for guests
my thrifty tip for finding them cheap:
go to target or walmart in september
when all the college dorm stuff is on clearance
last year i found 4 complete sets of towels for under $12 total
i even have extra room now
okay
so i'm not showing you what's in the drawers
cause i haven't done them
yet
and the upper cabinets are hard to get to
let alone
photograph
but they're tidy too
just filled with seasonal duvets and extra mattress covers
and such
the best part of this project
was that it cost no money at all
since i used found objects from around the house
wahoo
one more project
checked off my list
now i've got my eye on the junk drawers...
